Inspiration
Use of nature, especially the characteristics of ground plants, as an integral part of the design and inspire.
Creativity
The overall design is an intersection of dynamic movement and static posturing. The table provides a space where plants can grow and be viewed at the table, in order to create a place for relaxation and interacting with nature. The table top surface also use as diffuses light to create a greenhouse feature. Finally, the table is made for easy storage, it could be knock down into a 660mm x 660mm x 102mm cuboid.
Design Challenges
Nga Ying, Amy Sun did not encounter any design challenges while designing the award winning Growing Table Outdoor Coffee Table.
Production Technology
The Growing Table is made of walnut hardwood which reflects the color of soil and creates a backdrop that makes plants more visible. All parts of the table are designed into fiction fit for easy assembly, no screws needed.
