Çig Yag (Olive Oil Bottle) by Taris Zeytin A.S
2011 - 2012, Silver A' Packaging Design Award Winner
Inspiration
The story of Çiğ Yağ begins with the careful selection of hand collected olives, nature’s gift to humankind. The olives are immediately ground in granite stone mills before they are put into special bags. The bags are then piled up and the oil drains naturally by the paste's own weight. This precious juice, which is not thermally processed or hydro-pressed, is called Çiğ Yağ. This oil, which the producer usually keeps to himself, is as precious as breast milk thanks to its vitamins and nutritious value. It was important to present this unique olive oil in a special bottle. On the other hand, this limited product should convey the message of being traditional, unique and powerful.
Creativity
Tariş revolutionizes olive oil packing via introducing this product in a porcelain bottle, which is a long-lasting and hygienic storage container for olive oil. It is easier to clean, offers no ground for germs and does not absorb water. Taris with its mastery and art thrones the olive oil with this specially designed porcelain bottle through the unrivaled aesthetics of Turkish tiles. The design on the porcelain bottle, Çintemani, can frequently be encountered among traditional Turkish designs and is a symbol of vigour, strength and power. Çintemani , on this special bottle, depicts the ultimate domination and absolute rule of the olive tree in nature. Çiğ Yağ is only available in limited quantity each harvesting season, so each bottle of this limited edition product is numbered with a metal plate. It is sold in a special box, designed for the product.
Design Challenges
