One Bloor (Presentation Centre) by Cecconi Simone
2011 - 2012, Silver A' Interior Design Award Winner
Inspiration
The inspiration for this design is derived from the undulating profile of the future condominium tower’s architectural envelope and from organic forms and elements found in nature. The design presents a sinuous sensuality incorporating elements of fire, water and earth and offering seamless transitions from interior to exterior.
Creativity
The One Bloor presentation centre in Toronto, Canada encompasses a total environment. It deploys innovative construction, materials and technology to present the distinctive ambiance of the upcoming, landmark, seventy-five storey One Bloor Condominium within a limited area of 223 m². Conceived as a space-within-a-space, the presentation centre is created from a suspended grid and moulded aluminum framework, which mimics the curvilinear profile of the future hi-rise. Fixtures and finishes are secured to these structures, with minimal contact with the existing envelope. The presentation centre’s sculpted interior architecture guides visitors through the successive galleries where the story of the impending tower unfolds steadily and engagingly.
Design Challenges
Cecconi Simone did not encounter any design challenges while designing the award winning One Bloor Presentation Centre.
Production Technology
From an engineering point of view, the One Bloor Presentation Centre by Cecconi Simone is a good example of a highly-developed project.
