Less (Armchair) by Attila Jónás
2012 - 2013, Bronze A' Furniture and Homeware Design Award Winner
Inspiration
The situation of product design of now, products designed by Dieter Rams and paintings by Mark Rothko.
Creativity
This armchair pushes the boundaries of product design. It was born by lots of questions and philosophizing. What is the design or art? What is beautiful and what is ugly? How far we can go? What we call well-designed product? If something is simple , is it beautiful as well? Why? If less is more,a little is much? How does the simplest armchair look like? Less. Sink in it.
Design Challenges
Attila Jónás did not encounter any design challenges while designing the award winning Less Armchair.
Production Technology
The external part of product is made from hard polyurethane foam. The internal part is made from memory foam (viscoelastic polyurethane foam). The parts are covered by an elastic textile.
