Beyond The Head (Hairstick and Necklace) by Milli Maier
2012 - 2013, Bronze A' Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Award Winner
My inspiration came from personal interest in hair jewelry. It's nice to have a beautiful piece of jewelry that we could pass on from generation to generation and thereby add more sentimental value. Why hair jewelry? Hair has always been a symbol of femininity and why not to refine it with a little elegance.
The main idea is to use precious metal and distinctive design to make this type of jewelry which further development has stuck. This hairstick design represent creative power of the female. Twisted horns indicates spark and beauty as a profound symbol what is above the head. This hairstick, made of silver, is comfortable to use in everyday life to achieve great look and it has a multifunctional side to transform it into a necklace, so it can be used in the evening events.
Design Challenges
Milli Maier did not encounter any design challenges while designing the award winning Beyond The Head Hairstick and Necklace.
Production Technology
The hairstick is made of silver and zircons. This piece of jewelry is purely hand made. The surface finishing is done with old engraveing technique.
