Haezer (Album Art) by Chris Slabber
2013 - 2014, Platinum A' Photography and Photo Manipulation Design Award Winner
Inspiration
The entire pice is suggestive to the point where your third eye completes the design. I wanted to simulate the tension of the frequencies inside our bodies wanting to escape while your body is fighting to contain it. Thus I liked the idea of a stone sculpture on the verge of breaking apart. The artwork reflects the very moment prior to inner release. I'd say the main inspiration came from old Greek and Roman sculptures that were already cracked and damaged.
Creativity
Haezer's music is dance based, but not your conventional kind. So I wanted to make the artwork resemble that. The client said the he felt it has a timeless feel to him, like it could have been made 15 years ago or 30 years from now. I find that most dance artwork just goes with whats popular in the current moment.
Design Challenges
The challenge was to make the artwork seem real. I wanted the viewer to question him/herself if its photography of 3D.
Production Technology
Once the concept was approved, the model was photographed in studio along with the use of sfx makeup. All the post production was done using Adobe Photoshop.
