Joseph Felt Chair (Seating) by Windels Lothar
2017 - 2018, Golden A' Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Award Winner
Felt has been used in the past to create seating objects, but these past examples have used epoxy resin (Gaetano Pesce's Feltri Chair) or additional substructures to hold up the weight of the occupant. The Joseph Felt Chair just utilizes the strength of the material felt to create a timeless design with a memorable appearance.
The Felt Chair Joseph is composed of six rolls of interwoven felt, pressed together with stainless steel fasteners. The chair uses the structural properties of felt to create a soft construction. It does not need a cover or an inner frame as conventional upholstered furniture, because the outer appearance is the outcome of its integral construction.
Design Challenges
Windels Lothar did not encounter any design challenges while designing the award winning Joseph Felt Chair Seating.
Production Technology
