Farming (Kindergarten) by Takashi Niwa
2017 - 2018, Golden A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award Winner
Economic development in Vietnam separates away children from nature, leads many problems that affects the environment. Our proposal with green solutions counters these issues. The re-designing of educational space has a great impact to the society. We tried to make a building connecting nature and human naturally to get idea of life during their usage. A kid educated in farming kindergarten will become a “Green-man” whose knowledge and experience of agriculture will convey to the next generation
It is for 500 pre-school children of Taiwanese shoes factory in Vietnam, is a prototype of the sustainable education space in tropical climate, and a model of social benefit facility for workers in developing countries. The green roof is a triple-ring-shape drawn with a single stroke; creating 3 courtyards as safe playground. Passive design methods are comprehensively applied in the building together with Farming on roof. It becomes an experimental learning space of sustainable lifestyle.
